No Idea how to renew my SSL certificate and it's becoming urgent

I can’t get in touch with my IT guy and I need to renew the SSL certificate on this domain ASAP. Does the security certificate get renewed on WP or the server?

My domain is: paragem.com.au

I ran this command:

It produced this output:

My web server is (include version):

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version):

My hosting provider, if applicable, is:

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know):

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):

The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version or certbot-auto --version if you’re using Certbot):

for bandaid fix:

call IT guy later as it would run out 3 mouth later.

thank you. Is it easy to install? do i need a plugin as the site is running WP? i have absolutely no IT skills!!!

you don’t install cert to WP, you install cert to webserver that runs the WP.

Therefore i need access to server?

yes you are, or a shard hosting system like Cpanel

Perfect - thank you so much for your help!

Hi @flyingblind

now you have a new certificate, created today:

CN=paragem.com.au
	24.06.2019
	22.09.2019
expires in 90 days
paragem.com.au, www.paragem.com.au - 2 entries

But your CT-log list shows an interruption ( https://check-your-website.server-daten.de/?q=paragem.com.au#ct-logs ):

The last certificate expired 2019-06-19, 5 days downtime.

How did you create that certificate?

Typical situation: A certificate should be renewed after 60 - 85 days (automatic). So you don't have such a downtime.

And you have two certificates, one only with one domain name. You don't need that certificate. Looks like there is a certbot or something else that has created two different certificates.

He was used old cert when I post few hours ago, and it seens he did call his IT guy to renew the cert I guess.

Yep. But then the renew didn’t work, so it’s not really a solution. And the wrong certificate (with only one domain name) could be removed. So both certificates are renewed.

thanks all. solution now sorted as we’re going to buy an SSL rather than relying on 3 month free certificates
