Dear administrator, could you add a dark theme for this discourse forum, please. kicad, transifex, openwrt and mozilla discourses already has dark theme and it looks fine.
Dark theme tires eyes significant less and saves eyesight.
FYI, this has come up before:
I’ve seen it. It’s closed now without solution.
From Allow users to select dark mode theme - #3 by jsha :
But I think he has higher priority issues right now (2020.02.29 CAA Rechecking Bug)
I asked openwrt discourse administrator, and just checked it myself on the fresh locally installed discourse 2.5.0.beta2:
Dark theme comes out of the box.
You can easily add more themes from the administration interface.
It seems that dark theme has been disabled, as letsencrypt’s discourse runs just a previous version (2.5.0.beta1). Just go to the https://community.letsencrypt.org/admin/customize/themes and enable it for users:
I don't believe he has no time to toggle the checkbox.
If there is only Light theme in the list:
you should press Install
-> Create new
Fill the name, “Dark” for example with type Theme
:
and then, on the next step, assign the Dark
color palette and make it available for users:
Thank you for those details. If it’s that simple, maybe @jsha can find the time to do it
The problem with tasks with low priority, it’s when you don’t know how simple they are before you are doing them!
Admins of opencellid and syncthing discourses have successfully applied these instructions.
For some reason the “Dark” theme is not preinstalled on our instance - perhaps because it was created before the Dark theme existed?
There was also no “Dark” theme available in the list of popular themes to install. However, I saw that the “Vincent” theme has a dark mode, so I installed that. It’s now user-selectable in https://community.letsencrypt.org/u/<your username>/preferences/interface
.
Thanks! This will save my eyes! Now I can take these off.
It's not there.
"Dark" is only a color palette.
Go to https://community.letsencrypt.org/admin/customize/themes and create a new theme (install -> create new
) give it a name, select the dark palette and make it available for users to select.
The Vincent theme has a dark palette and is available now. I’m using it!
So does the default one. (I really don’t like the vincent theme )
vincent looks strange, could you add a dark palette for the default theme please
Thanks for the tip. I tried it but the dark palette does not show up:
If you'd like to ask for some advice on the Discourse support forum https://meta.discourse.org/ you are welcome to! You can tell them I sent you.
