How to get the certificate? [CPANEL]

Hi,

I followed the certbot instructions, but this is step #8 on certbot's website instruction
8. Install your certificate
You'll need to install your new certificate in the configuration file for your webserver.

So how do I get the certificate? There's no other information.

My domain is: www.openuu.com

My web server is (include version): Linux pip system

My hosting provider, if applicable, is: www.hostnine.com

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don't know): Yes, port 80 open

I'm using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel): cpanel

Hi @carolc and welcome to the LE community forum

You say you got to Step #8.
Did Step #7 complete successfully?
[did it say "Congratulations" and received a cert]
If you are not sure, try:
certbot certificates

If you do have a certificate, Now you need to insert it into cPanel.
If you don't have a certificate, :frowning: You should try using cPanel to obtain the cert for your domain.

Hi @rg305
Thanks so much for replying. No I didn't run it yet, because I'm trying to understand where is this cert coming from. The instructions on certbot and LE are unclear.

Step #7 is "Choose how you'd like to run Certbot" -- will this step create a cert? It doesn't say.

Also, what do you mean by this? If I don't have a certificate, I should use cPanel to obtain it? Where is the cert to begin with?

I'm trying to understand this, before passing it on to my webhosting support. Thank you!

Thank you,
Carol

Yes, if successful, Step #7 will obtain a cert.
But there are a lot posts here that mention NOT to use manual clients when using cPanel.
I would look into having cPanel do the work for you (if it can).

Note: I don't use cPanel, so I only speak from what I've read here.
I just found this online:
