Hello All,
My server is sending TOO MANY REDIRECTS I have done a lot of googling and put a lot of hours into it with no improvements. Below are the details. Any help would be appreciated.
My domain is: ron1.simoninfra.win
I ran this command:apt update -y && apt install -y python-certbot-nginx -t stretch-backports && certbot --nginx
It produced this output:
My web server is (include version):nginx/1.10.3
The operating system my web server runs on is (include version):Debian 9.5
My hosting provider, if applicable, is:DigitalOcean
I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know):Yes
I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):No
This is my nginx config after LE modified it.

Hi @simonindia
checking your website ( https://check-your-website.server-daten.de/?q=ron1.simoninfra.win ): Yep, you have a direct loop:
Your https://ron1.simoninfra.win/
redirects to the same address.
Move this to the listen 80 - block. If your https redirects to https, this is the loop.

Thanks @JuergenAuer . Will move the
server {
listen 80;

return 404; # managed by Certbot
if ($host = ron1.simoninfra.win) {
return 301 https://$host$request_uri;
} # managed by Certbot
}
@JuergenAuer Done that still the same checked using wget and curl. Also checked using chrome still the same. Thank you for doing this.

Are there additional config files with redirects?
Is there a .htaccess with a redirect?

No Just nginx. I don’t have any redirects or .htaccess. Even files are just zip files as this is going to used for internal Android App’s
You have a redirect. And you have to find it.
Check the software running there. I don't see that - I see only the redirect.

Well I don't run this with any software there is no PHP or HTML files all this server does is server some simple zip files.

I would look for a .htaccess file.
Something is redirecting outside of that config.
1 Like
Thanks. Well that’s the part making no sense there is not a single file in the directory. I have exhausted my thoughts. This is just a fresh machine in DO this to behaves as same as the original Production instance in AWS.
With this configuration nginx will never serve anything except index.html
in the server root directory, and the /
argument will probably result in a redirect which you see.
The usual try_files
configuration to serve static files is:
try_files $uri $uri/ =404;

First Happy new year. Then yes it seems to be the case. I have been using this as base config using a bash script after this the script creates the file it seems to missing the .$uri $uri is try files.
I appreciate your help will ping back after testing it.

Guys as @sigprof said in the above post that was the issue. It’s been a while since I used bash for scripting I have made a rookie mistake. Will try and contribute to this forum as I’m new here. I love you guys it been a great experience.
Happy new year All.
And big thanks to LE team and community for making this happen . I will try my best to be part of it.
Good day.
