DNS problem: NXDOMAIN looking up A for

My domain is: domain name

I ran this command:certbot certonly --webroot -w /path/ -d domainname

My web server is (include version):Apache 2.4.6

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): Centos 7

My hosting provider, if applicable, is: softlayer

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): yes

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel): No

The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version or certbot-auto --version if you’re using Certbot): 0.38.0

Issue:
I am facing problem when I try to issue a certificate to a newly created portal. The A, SPF records etc as as required basis on tools like https://centralops.net/co/.

Command used: certbot certonly --webroot -w /path/ -d domainname

Error:
Waiting for verification…
Challenge failed for domain domainname
http-01 challenge for domainname
