Virtualmin took too long for fetch Certificate

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. https://crt.sh/?q=example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is: http:hostingandlearn.net

I ran this command: automatic request from virtualmin

It produced this output:Requesting a certificate for hostingandlearn.net, www.hostingandlearn.net, mail.hostingandlearn.net from Let’s Encrypt …
… request failed : Web-based validation failed : Failed to request certificate :

mail.hostingandlearn.net challenge did not pass: DNS problem: NXDOMAIN looking up A for mail.hostingandlearn.net

DNS-based validation failed : Failed to request certificate :

Gave up waiting for validation

My web server is (include version):

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): ubuntu 16, virtualmin/webmin

My hosting provider, if applicable, is: digitalocean

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): yes

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):

Hi,

Could you please explain "giving up waiting for validation"?

The error states that one of the domains does not have a A record.

Could you please point that site on the server too?

Thank you

Hi @smallpox

looks like you want to use http-01 validation to get a certificate.

But there is no dns - A - entry mail.hostingandlearn.net -> ip address.

So that can't work.
