Windows 7
Welcome @Krasnodarskii
I moved your question to the Help section. Had you posted there you would have been shown the form below. I removed the questions that you already answered. But, please answer the rest as best you can.
The main thing we need to know is how you got your original cert.
==============================
Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. crt.sh | example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.
I ran this command:
It produced this output:
My web server is (include version):
I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don't know):
I'm using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):
The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version
or certbot-auto --version
if you're using Certbot):
That operating system should not even be connected to the internet. It has not received security updates in four and a half years!
Certbot
I've moved your post to your existing thread. Please continue here instead of opening a new thread for the same issue.
certbot-auto
does not exist any longer. See https://certbot.eff.org/ for the currently recommended methods of installing Certbot.
didn't EFF abandoned windows version of certbot recently?
@Krasnodarskii try windows specific client like win-acme or certify the web
Ah, Windows, yes. EFF does not recommend Certbot for Windows. Or use Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
I don't think certbot-auto
has ever worked for Windows?
@Krasnodarskii Certify The Web is mainly designed for use with IIS on windows (which is the most commonly used web server on Windows). Windows 7 isn't officially supported but it may work. Really you need to urgently upgrade or change your operating system.
For Apache you need to use a Deploy to Apache deployment task (add it under Tasks) and you also need to manually configure your own Apache config settings to use the certificate. If using nginx then it's a similar process. Using with Apache, nginx or Other Web Servers | Certify The Web Docs
As an alternative see also https://www.win-acme.com/ - it probably isn't compatible with Windows 7 either but it's worth knowing about.
As far as I can see you haven't yet explained what the certificate is going to be used with, and that can influence the correct advice to give.
