Subdomain per user

Hello,

I am distributing devices with simple to install personal cloud services UI on it

Every user with a device gets a free subdomain at syncloud.it like user.syncloud.it. Device is configured to update its IP for that name and also to get Let’s Encrypt certificate.

My problem is that every new certificate counts against syncloid.it and not against its user.syncloud.it. That means I cannot get more than 20 certificates per week.

Is there any way to count each user against his/her own domain user.syncloud.it?

Yes, there are two ways:

  1. Submit a Let’s Encrypt rate limit adjustment request.
  1. Submit the domain to the Public Suffix List.

The Public Suffix List has security implications. For your situation, that’s probably be a good thing, but perhaps not.

Both processes take a couple weeks at least.
