SSL in subdomain

My domain is:
My hosting provider, if applicable, is: hostgator
I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): no

Hello. I want the ssl for subdomain which is not yet pointed at hostgator IP, but it will be in a few days. Please not that the primary domain will be hosted in a different server and it is not under my administration. I will inform them though to point the subdomain mentioned at hostgator IP. Is it possible and what do I need to do to have an SSL in the subdomain?
thank you in advance

If the hostname doesn’t contain an IP address pointed to a server under your control, the only option is to use the dns-01 challenge. This requires you to be in control over the DNS zone file of your (sub)domain.

Hi @overron

what does this mean? Actual, isn't defined. But if there is an A-record -> ip-address (managed by hostgator)

so that there is a webserver and you can create a website ?

So you want to use with this website?

Then you can use htt-01 challenge: Creating a special file under /.well-known/acme-challenge/

There are "pure online clients"

you may use. But I can't say if Hostgator allows the installation / the change of your webserver, that may depend on your hosting contract.
