Nginx - certbot renew without nginx plugin installed (python-certbot-nginx)

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. https://crt.sh/?q=example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is: https://jira.wso2telco.com/

I ran this command: certbot renew --nginx

It produced this output: could not choose appropriate plugin: The requested nginx plugin does not appear to be installed

My web server is (include version):nginx/1.4.6 (Ubuntu)

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): Ubuntu 14.04.3

My hosting provider, if applicable, is: N/A

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don't know): yes

I'm using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):no

The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version or certbot-auto --version if you're using Certbot): certbot 0.26.1

We 've to renew the certificate which got expired yesterday, the problem is , we are unable to install nginx plugin ( sudo apt-get install python-certbot-nginx ) since we are on Ubuntu 14 as described in below article. seeking your support to renew the certificates without having nginx plugin installed.

Hello @client_x

is QUITE OUTDATED

Is there a specific reason you are running dated software?

I would consider installing an up to date version of certbot and ngix plugin from snap:
https://certbot.eff.org/lets-encrypt/ubuntuxenial-nginx

Ubuntu 14 LTS supports snaps even though the above instructions use Ubuntu 16.04 as the base OS example.
Hope this helps.
