It produced this output: When I click Verify Domain, error message says "Oh no, Let's Encrypt wasn't able to access the verification file(s)"

This is a question you should be asking them. You do have a certificate on that site, but it isn't from Let's Encrypt, and it expired in March.

Then what, exactly, did you do to try to obtain this cert?

Really, if namecheap wants to charge for a cert, you should seriously consider moving to a less user-hostile hosting provider. But it may be possible to make this work, if you can describe exactly what you did before running into the error.

If your shared hosting provider allows you to run PHP scripts and install a certificate through a control panel, but doesn't just handle everything for you, you may want to use CertSage. It's designed for that use case.

Otherwise, I think you'd need to give more details on exactly what access you do and don't have. There may not be a better way than paying more to your current provider or switching to a different provider.

I just renewed my hosting. I also want to be able to do this for myself in the future. I just tried acme.sh and received this error "mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/usvillas.biz’: Permission denied"

Success! acme.sh worked. Now I can be a bit of an asset to this community. I will retrace my steps and give a complete update of what worked.
