Error getting certificate

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. crt.sh | example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is:prometheus.unitycollege.sa.edu.au

I ran this command:sudo certbot --nginx

It produced this output: DNS problem: NXDOMAIN looking up A for prometheus.unitycollege.sa.edu.au - check that a DNS record exists for this domain; DNS problem: NXDOMAIN looking up AAAA for prometheus.unity.college.sa.edu.au - check that the dns record existts for this domain

My web server is (include version):2.15.2

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version):ubuntu 20

My hosting provider, if applicable, is:nginx

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don't know):yes

I'm using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):No

The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version or certbot-auto --version if you're using Certbot):1.30.0

Like the error says, the domain needs to be accessible from the internet.

According to public DNS, prometheus.unitycollege.sa.edu.au does not have any DNS records.

Is there any other way to get the certificate? Because it is inside the organisation network and I don't really want to publish it.

Thank you

Sure, you can try use the DNS challenge. It's still requires you to programmatically update TXT records in your DNS zone at every renewal, though.
