There's no clear way to request removal from the blacklist. Can someone please advise?
Welcome to the Let's Encrypt Community!
Use your ACME client software(s) to request updating the email address for your ACME account(s) from you@example.com
to you+folder@example.com
. This "plus addressing" will result in the same email address being used, but requesting that it be put in a folder named folder
in your email account. It is treated as a different email address by Let's Encrypt and thus not subject to the unsubscribe.
As a side note, you can have more than one email address (or no email address) subscribed to receive notifications.
Please note that this "plus addressing" might not be working the same (or at all) for every mail service.
@Osiris is correct. By using a "plus address" you are requesting that expiry emails be put into a different folder. If your email provider isn't configured to support "plus addressing", the emails should arrive in your inbox per usual.
It's also called subaddressing and is defined in RFC 5233.
For reference, the "plus addressing" method is what is officially recommended by Let's Encrypt.
The email body has a link to unsubscribe from future notices. If you hit that link, you won’t get any expiration notices for the next year. The list of “who’s unsubscribed” is independent for Staging notices and Production notices, so you can feel free to unsubscribe from Staging without affecting your Production status.
Note that your unsubscribe is only valid for one year, so you will have to renew it every year.
There’s not yet a way for us to efficiently re-subscribe you if you unsubscribe. Our email provider, Mandrill, has a manual mechanism that we still need to automate.
However, you can change the email address on your account, which effectively re-subscribes you. Many common email services treat
yourname+1@example.com
the same asyourname@example.com
. So if you update your email address toyourname+1@example.com
, you can start getting expiry mail again.
Thank you for the quick reply!
I’m using the software via Plesk, so I’m a bit unsure where to do this. Sorry to be nuisance, but I’m not sure how to parse the instructions provided below (it’s a non-production server that I - a lay/non-IT person - am self-managing.
Thanks in advance!
Are you using AutoSSL (or what?) as your ACME client software for acquiring your Let's Encrypt certificates?
