The correct way to upgrade/move your vps

My domain is: vpn885951179.softether.net

My web server is (include version): nginx 1.17.10

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): yes

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel): no

The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version or certbot-auto --version if you’re using Certbot): 0.40.0

I plan to upgrade & move my vps running Softether vpn, nginx & certbot and the Public IP address would be different. What would you guys suggest if I dont want to re-create all the vpn clients on all the client device/pc?

  1. backup and restore all the certs to the new vps? search online and seems like this is not an easy & straight forward thing to do as it might not work - Backup/Restore Let's Encrypt SSL Certificate from/to a VPS

  2. generate a new cert with the same domain name on the new vps? could the vpn clients(Softether, OpenVPN & SSTP) works just like before with the new certs?

Thank you in advance,
