Query timed out looking up A

I have the same problem. When trying to renew or creating, on the commandline with "certbot certonly option 1", a new certificate i get:

Failed authorization procedure. ......... (http-01): urn:ietf:params:acme:error:dns :: DNS problem: query timed out looking up A for .......

Never seen this. What is causing this? i contacted the DNS hoster but they do not know/understand it.
