For some reason the file located at “https://raw.githubusercontent.com/certbot/certbot/master/certbot-nginx/certbot_nginx/options-ssl-nginx.conf” is now returning a 404 instead of the usual contents. Did the file move and I didn’t get the memo?
There are three files now:
Supporting different Nginx, OpenSSL when it comes to TLS 1.3 support, and a session ticket bug, has made things more complicated.
This post is written in a hurry, but you should see most of the reasons in the Certbot changelog and recent GitHub issues and pull requests.
Oh, good…I cannot describe how difficult it was for me to troubleshoot this far. I was wondering if I was losing my mind when I found that the github link returned a “404” and nothing was mentioned about it on github. You all might consider putting text in the previous link to that file advising of the new location so that others do not get the same bruising on their forehead from hitting their desk. (I see now that the issue has been ongoing in Github for a number of weeks now, but for some reason I could not locate those pull requests)
I don’t think that we expect end users to download individual files from GitHub based on their URLs—normally the way that users have installed Certbot will give them a reasonably up-to-date copy of all of the files that they need.
