Nginx error conflict when having two domain names

Hi, I have tried to setup a second domain name on my LAMP server, but I can't make the ssl certificate work, it always say it's conflicting on port 80 and 443. The ssl and api is working fine on the first one. What I've tried was to change port to 81 on the second, but I am not convinced ssl would work on anything other than 443, or this was the root cause of the issue. I have bought the domain name today and added the A and AAAA blocks to the server today. I have stopped and started the server since then, and I have restarted nginx service after every try.
The website works, but it doesn't have a certificate.

My domain is: budgeterapi.co.uk

I ran this command: certbot

It produced this output:

Challenge failed for domain budgeterapi.co.uk
http-01 challenge for budgeterapi.co.uk

nginx: [warn] conflicting server name "dgloriaapi.co.uk" on [::]:443, ignored

Hi @dgloria, and welcome to the LE community forum :slight_smile:

As stated, your nginx config is misconfigured.
It is using the same name:port combinations in more than one vhost.

This is probably NOT the best place to learn how to configure a web server.
That said, it may be a very simple fix/oversight on your part.

If you would like us to review your config, show the entire config with:
nignx -T

Hi, thank you very much for helping. I know I shouldn't do this, because I am not a server pro, but these are my projects and I didn't find a supported service anywhere for Laravel api.
Anyway I've done as you recommended and I still have an error, but a different one. Which is strange, because I don't see anywhere budgeterapi.co.uk on :80 port, only on one single occurrence. Here's the response:

root@lamp1:~# certbot

   To fix these errors, please make sure that your domain name was
   entered correctly and the DNS A/AAAA record(s) for that domain
   contain(s) the right IP address.
root@lamp1:~#

Also not sure why it still says that the domain is not having proper A and AAAA setup, when I am able to see the content using http.

I have deleted all unnecessary code from the sites-available file:

server {
    listen 80;
    server_name budgeterapi.co.uk;
	  root /var/www/htdocs/budgeter/public;

    index index.php index.html index.htm index.nginx-debian.html;

    location / {
        try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?$query_string;
    }

    error_page 404 /index.php;

    location ~ \.php$ {
        fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php/php7.4-fpm.sock;
		    include snippets/fastcgi-php.conf;
    }

	location ~ /\.ht {
		deny all;
	}
}

And this is my error now:

root@lamp1:~#

I've got the DNS setup correctly:

I have a postman response for the api without the ssl all right, still it says the DNS settings are incorrect?

That is missing the IPv6 listen. Should be:

server {
    listen 80;
    listen [::]:80;
    server_name budgeterapi.co.uk;

Let's Encrypt is failing because of an IPv6 problem

Hi Mike, thanks, that worked!!! :slight_smile: There was an 502 bad gateway error, so I have edited the fastcgi bit, but anyway thanks for the guidance! 5stars! :slight_smile:

I see still you have issue as you can see on this screenshot.
On your name-server update WWW to A record IP your above issue will resolve.

Not necessarily. The domain is for an api and often these don't have "www" subdomains like websites.

They have never asked about the www subdomain in this thread

Besides, it has been 20 days since the last post. They probably would have asked about that if it was a concern :slight_smile:

Hi, I.have fixed it, I don't.know how, I.kept.changing the files until it worked. Trial and error. Until someone finds a better way.for nginx aite config, this will remain a mystery.
