Multiple certificates on one subdomain. Can I remove some to have one left?

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. crt.sh | example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is: https://meditta.scherminformatie.nl

I ran this command: sudo certbot -> choose subdomain ->2 renew->1 no redirect changes.

It produced this output: No error. But on ssllab I have for the same subdomain 3 certificates with different expire dates. During working on the site certificate privacy errors are random showing up.

My web server is (include version):ubuntu 16.04

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version):ubuntu 16.04

My hosting provider, if applicable, is:vimexx

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don't know): yes

I'm using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel): no

The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version or certbot-auto --version if you're using Certbot): 0.31.0

Hi @ingas and welcome to the LE community forum

It sounds like you either:

  • are using a load-balancer which is out-of-sync (not likely)

OR

  • Apache did not shutdown completely and you have multiple threads with different certs (very likely)

Hi rg305,

Thank you very mucht!!

Restarting the server was the solution. Very happy with this simple (old fashion) solution.
