Why did it tell me to look for a solution here though?
Because the people who've modified/use Certbot didn't bother to remove/suppress that part..
Looks like their used client just re-uses parts of Certbot.
So effectively they're using parts of an ACME client which never was intended to do S/MIME. And suggesting this Community is also probably an incorrect one. Probably better to request support on some kind of Castle support channel.
