@Ljpojo

I'm going to ask for some help here because I currently lack the authority to help you.

@moderators

Would you please PM Oliver (@Ljpojo) to help him.

@tdelmas

I believe you tried to address this already. Anything to add here?

I don't see the '...' icon (on the post in question) to reveal the hidden flag

It's a known issue. I've put in a request to have this handled. Wish I could handle it myself, but for some reason I'm not allowed to do so.

There is a time limit for when users with certain trust levels can delete their posts. But, if there were replies to the post, then those replies would no longer have any context relating to the deleted post the replies were meant for. Think of overhearing only one side of a telephone conversation. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you do wish to have your post deleted, you will have to PM someone on the Staff. There are a lot of things that are involved with every and any post:

  • links to the post
  • likes given to the post (which are counted in each user's stats)
  • replies to the post (which are counted in each user's stats)
  • cross-links or shared link would no longer be valid (they would then be orphaned)
  • links to direct replies would be broken
  • and several other "problems" with deleting a post after software routines have run.

So, PM the Staff and give them the link to the post you want deleted and see how they can handle it.

Tom (tdelmas) is already aware of why this happened and started a discourse with Discourse. I notice that one of Ljpojo's posts has already been deleted (because clicking on the arrow to it in my reply goes nowhere).

Is removing some of the text in the post an option (if deleting the entire post is not)?

It will remain in history here, but at least Google will stop indexing the unwanted content.

An OP should be able to edit his/her post, removing the unwanted text. The next time the post is indexed by "Your Googleness", the last thing they'll have would be the edited post. One would have to go back in history to see the post before it was edited. I agree with @griffin that the unwanted text won't be indexed in the future.

no, doesn't look like I am able to edit it. I'll ask tdelmas

Actually looks like I can't send a message to tdelmas either... Will have to wait and see if it gets resolved

For others reading the thread :

How to delete a post:

  • If you can see the image icon, click on it. If you see a Trash icon, use it.
  • Else, if you can flag it, do it, an admin will delete it for you
  • Else, if you can't flag it either (new users can't), you can try ask a moderator
  • Else, if you don't succeed to contact a moderator, as a last resort, you can use he instruction provided there: https://letsencrypt.org/privacy/
