Help! Using Let's Encrypt First Time

Hello,

As I said, I’m creating SSL for the first time. I don’t want to mess it up. It’s for a client. I saw some video tutorials, it seems very easy but many of them were very specific about adding a “non-www”, and “www” domain versions.

I’m sure my domain looks like “www.example.com”. So, is it necessary to add a “non-www” version of the domain? And if so, can I add “www” version at first then followed by a “non-www” or can I just only add “www” URL…WILL THAT MAKE A MESS?

A huge thank you in advance!

It depends. (But, Yes from Let’s Encrypt’s side)
If you only add www.example.com, your client might be mad at you because when their customer visit example.com, they will see a full page security warning. (Same with only example.com)
It’s better to use both www and root domain. Sequence doesn’t matter as long as you add both in the same certificate.
