Hi there - I keep getting these emails that all my certificates are going to expire. I just renewed them 2 weeks ago. Does the expiration for a certificate only last for 2 weeks and will have to be renewed again and again? Thanks for your help!
Hi @jsanborn,
Can you share some of the domain names that you are seeing renewal notifications for?
Our expiration email documentation has this section that may be helpful to review:
If your certificate is already renewed, we won’t send an expiry notice. We consider a certificate to be renewed if there is a newer certificate with the exact same set of names, regardless of which account created it. If you’ve issued a new certificate that adds or removes a name relative to your old certificate, you will get expiration email about your old certificate. If you check the certificate currently running on your website, and it shows the correct date, no further action is needed.
This often comes up because someone will have issued a certificate for "example.com" and then later realized they also needed the certificate to cover "www.example.com". By adding a second domain you aren't renewing anymore, but issuing a new certificate. There will be an expiration warning for the original certificate with just "example.com", even if you got a fresh one for "example.com, www.example.com".
Does that make sense? If you share your exact domain names we can check the history of issuance to try and determine if this is the case for you as well.
Thanks!
