It should be made more clear that to do the automated renewals as a cron job, one needs to add the parameter to the command of --renew-by-default (or put the proper directive in their ini file). This is poorly documented and automated renewals should be smoother to set up rather than getting an email from cron in 3 months saying that it failed with a message.

Good point, thanks for the suggestion. It’s only “Beta” so far, and documentation is one of the areas that needs some work still.
