Do I need to get a cert for www if I want a redirect (nginx) from www to mydomain.com?

Hi. What do you think guys?

Just don’t want to use 1 try without knowing…

It’s not strictly necessary - you can set things up to avoid it.

I would say the rule of thumb is: if you are going to create a DNS record for the www. subdomain in the first place, then you should also include it on the certificate.

It makes things more straightforward and predictable for everyone.

Edit: to clarify, I mean you should get one certificate which covers both example.com and www.example.com.

Presuming they both resolve to the same IP
