For me it didn't work, but the answer from SSLError: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed - #9 by rg305 did:
yum install ca-certificates openssl
(in fact I ran a different command, certbot renew, but the error was the same).
