Challenge3 failed error (GoDaddy hosting)

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g., so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is:

My web server is (include version): GoDaddy shared hosting package deluxe: Linux

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): Linux (latest? can’t find)
My hosting provider, if applicable, is: GoDaddy

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): I don’t know, I am the administrator of this account

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):

I am creating the SSL certificate and have followed all steps as outlined here:

When I create the SSL certificate I get the following error page:

“Domain “” challenge3 failed. Response from “” was: { “type”: “http-01”, “status”: “invalid”, “error”: { “type”: “urn:acme:error:unauthorized”, “detail”: “Invalid response from “

404 Not Found

Not Found

<p””, “status”: 403 }, “uri”: “”, “token”: “uhKzrLaf-x4htAHQSzDGnWpYmAHQAXNGtJcb0E4GcgU”, “keyAuthorization”: “uhKzrLaf-x4htAHQSzDGnWpYmAHQAXNGtJcb0E4GcgU.-U_HEtcoGsYR1Vf9FG4DrEnBTPKmt30KJlsZ9mVUx_Q”, “validationRecord”: [ { “url”: “”, “hostname”: “”, “port”: “80”, “addressesResolved”: [ “”, “2a02:2268:ffff:ffff::4” ], “addressUsed”: “2a02:2268:ffff:ffff::4”, “addressesTried”: [] } ] }”

I have checked my file permissions when uploading and even changed to 755 instead of 644

I have tried it multiple times and the files are in the correct folder on my server as I am getting the response I should. However when I click create certificate I get the aforementioned error.

Any idea what could go wrong?

Hi @Filipek,

According to your DNS records, this service is available in both IPv4 ( and IPv6 (2a02:2268:ffff:ffff::4). However, the content returned by the web server at these two different addresses is not the same. This is probably the reason that your challenge is failing.
