Challenge failed

Hello, like other threads i researched getting this error for this one domain. the ip points to the right server it simply looks like its not creating the acme-challenge files although permissions are open, if i ssh into server and look for the .well-known directory it does not get created…

any ideas ?

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Hi @codemountain

there is a check of your domain, 3,5 hours old - https://check-your-website.server-daten.de/?q=rstvelosports.com

You have ipv4- and ipv6 addresses:

Host T IP-Address is auth. ∑ Queries ∑ Timeout
rstvelosports.com A 159.203.28.87 Toronto/Ontario/Canada (CA) - DigitalOcean, LLC No Hostname found yes 2 0
AAAA 2607:f748:1200:11d:174:142:221:51 Chicago/Illinois/United States (US) - iWeb Technologies Inc yes
www.rstvelosports.com C rstvelosports.com yes 1 0
A 159.203.28.87 Toronto/Ontario/Canada (CA) - DigitalOcean, LLC No Hostname found yes
AAAA 2607:f748:1200:11d:174:142:221:51 Chicago/Illinois/United States (US) - iWeb Technologies Inc yes

But checking a file in /.well-known/acme-challenge there are different answers.

Letsencrypt prefers ipv6, so that's critical. So

  • remove your ipv6 (or, better)
  • fix your ipv6, so ipv4 and ipv6 have always the same content.

yes we just traced it back to the old webmaster that changed the ip for the v4 but left the old v6 ip so for now i deleted the v6 and worked. we will review and configure the v6 later on.

thanks for your help.
