Can I use LetsEncrypt to call web services?

Hey,

I am trying to call a web service which requires me to authenticate using an X509 certificate. Could anyone tell me whether it’s possible to use LetsEncrypt for this? From the FAQ I would think not (only for web servers that use a domain, while I’m not trying to host a server, I’m developing a client application), but since LetsEncrypt does issue X509 certificates I figured it’s worth asking anyway.

Thanks,

No, Let’s Encrypt only issues DV (domain validation) certificates, i.e., for servers. It doesn’t issue client certificates I’m afraid.

Thank you Osiris! I’ll look elsewhere.
