Www domain certificate getting error on root domain

Hi,

First of all, i searched this issue on the previous issues and couldn’t find any related information. if i missed something please redirect me.

i have an certificate that has multiple domains like

www.abc.it
www.abc.fr like this 15 domains.

whenever i navigated to www.abc.it everything works fine but if i goes to https://abc.it it’s getting SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN error.

I added these lines to apache site configuration:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(?:www.)?(.)$ [NC]
RewriteRule (.) https://www.abc.it%{REQUEST_URI} [END,QSA,R=permanent]

Also i tried this:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^admingle.it [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.abc.it/$1 [L,R=301,NC]

but none of them works (chrome is making redirection without error, safari redirecting www with warning but firefox and edge is getting above error.

Any help will much appreciated…

My domain is: www.admingle.it

I ran this command: try to get page as https://admingle.it

It produced this output: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN error

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): Ubuntu 14.04

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): yes, i’m a root user

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel): i’m only using command line no panel for managing

https://admingle.it

The certificate in use is for www.admingle.at

However, https://www.admingle.it/ seems to work just fine.
But the cert is only for the WWW = https://crt.sh/?id=215502310

You may just need to include the root domain and renewal the cert.
But you may also need to provide the “serveralias admingle.it” in the WWW vhost file.
