There could be many reasons for that. Best to start a new thread, but it’s likely your web server is simply not configured correctly (not all the lets-encrypt options will set this up for you, and most of them are on alpha quality according to the docs).

and the work around there was helpful.

Delete from etc letsencrypt folder : renewal, archive, live, csr, keys to recover

Certbot keeps incrementing /live and /archive domain directories
