@aarongable Probably a heads up (with actual dates et cetera) would have been nice, even if it's the staging environment 
The current API Announcement thread is in the past tense.
Just guessing here, but might it be Let's Encrypt underestimated the use of the staging environment for these kind of testing environments? And the consequences of these recent unannounced actions? This is not the only thread about it.
