Sslforfree.com is ruined

Totally agree. A moment ago I wanted to renew the SSL certificates that I had and it turns out that now I no longer have the same privileges in the free version that ZeroSSL offers me.

It’s unfortunate because SSLForFree used to not come with any asterisks. It is quite common for the acquisition of a free service to ruin it for its users. It used to be something special, but greedily taking away free privileges WILL repel people. When people come back to renew their certificates, they will be disappointed and find alternatives. The cherry on top of all of this is that they’re entirely ripping off users. $50/month is an excessively high price for a wildcard Let’s Encrypt certificate (another thing that used to be free). While the subscription does offer features not included prior to the acquisition, the point is that it TAKES AWAY things that previously, were provided for free.

Good that I am not alone in this. Anybody know something similar to sslfofree that is NOT zerossl or associated with any of the other ones that get bought out. I was using it for the wildcard one to help elderly clients avoid the hassle of doing it on their own, or worse yet, going through the whole loop with godaddy about how to set it up. SSLforfree basically removed all my members account (because you know, thats normal) and now it shows like this for all my clients:

I appreciate everyone making your opinions known and providing client alternatives. I don’t think there is anything Let’s Encrypt can do about theses changes, so I’m closing this thread for now.

If you need a new client, we have a list of ACME implementations.
