Renew with apache plugin, challenges fail

I have 7 vhosts listed for port 80. Do I understand you correctly that I should find changes by --apache plugin in the first one, which is named “default” in the output of apachectl?

Certbot should use the first one with a matching ServerName or ServerAlias directive.

Do you have seven port 80 virtual hosts, or seven port 80 virtual hosts with duplicate ServerName and ServerAlias directives?
