Registration/Renewal Failing For One Domain Out of Group

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better.

My domain is: davidnbrooks.com

I ran this command: certbot-auto --apache

It produced this output: Renewing an existing certificate
An unexpected error occurred:
The server experienced an internal error :: Failed to get registration by key
Please see the logfiles in /var/log/letsencrypt for more details.

My web server is (include version):

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): Ubuntu 14.4

My hosting provider, if applicable, is: DigitalOcean

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): yes

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel) : no

I’ve been running this setup for awhile now. I have been using:

certbot-auto --apache -d domain1.com -d domain2.com etc.

And so far, so good. But today I went to add another domain and it fails with:

An unexpected error occurred:
The server experienced an internal error :: Failed to get registration by key
Please see the logfiles in /var/log/letsencrypt for more details.

If I remove that domain from the list everything works. Adding it back fails. In my archive, live, and renewal directories there aren’t any certs named for that domain. The log file reads: Error: urn:acme:error:serverInternal :: The server experienced an internal error :: Failed to get registration by key

Any idea how to get the domain a cert? (Also, running it without the other domains in the list also returns the same error.)

Thanks!

Hi @davidnbrooks, could you please try again? I heard there was just a brief service disruption, which might be related to this somehow.

You beat me to it! I reported then saw the error go up. I just tried a minute ago and all is well. Thank you!
