Why do I even have to write a forum request for this, why you dont support ANY OTHER LINUX DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT SNAP OR PIP ? WHY? I donated at least 3 times in my entire life, not much, but still, as a sponsor I beg Let's Encrypt to take my request into consideration. Why dont we have a classic linux compressed file that can I can uncompress then place all the files&folders at "/" LIKE ANY OTHER APP IS DOING , im asking for too much ? I use certbot sience 2015 or 2016 and I never seen proper support from certbot website, I always received support from third-party
Let's Encrypt doesn't run or maintain certbot, so I think your anger is misplaced.
There are plenty of ACME clients out there that support many Linux distributions. Certbot works well for many people, but if doesn't work well for you or your setup feel free to switch to a different client that does.
If you want a "copy-to-deploy" kind of program, rather than dealing with python's dependencies (or your platform's built-in package/dependency manager), then I suggest you look at lego or acme.sh.
Certbot is maintained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation since May 2016, almost 9 years ago. NOT Let's Encrypt.
That said, distribution repository maintainers are still packaging Certbot for their OS (e.g. Debian AFAIK, certainly Gentoo and Arch Linux).. So not sure what you're requesting? It's all Open Source, so if you'd like to build a FlatPack yourself, go for it There's also a Docker image for those who like Docker..
Also, I'd like to move your complaint to a better suited section, but I'm afraid there is none
What do you mean by "classic linux compressed file"? And how do you mean "like any other app is doing"? I've never come across Linux applications that are installed by simply uncompressing a file to /
. That would be a very, VERY bad thing.
This smells 99 % like a troll..
Hello,
I'm sorry you're disappointed in how certbot is supported. Note that while it is commonly used, it isn't maintained by Let's Encrypt, and there's many other options.
Many other Linux distributions package certbot.
There are other ACME clients available which can run on other operating systems or in other ways. That's always been a goal of Let's Encrypt: To allow many different pieces of software to automatically obtain certificates.
I'm going to close this thread, as I believe your feedback has been delivered. If you have any additional questions, or require help setting it up in some other environment, please feel free to open a help thread with information about what you'd like to do.
Thank you.
