How do you install DNS plugin when using snap to install certbot?

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. https://crt.sh/?q=example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is: N/A

I ran this command: N/A

It produced this output: N/A

My web server is (include version): N/A

The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

My hosting provider, if applicable, is: N/A

I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): Yes

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel): No

The version of my client is (e.g. output of certbot --version or certbot-auto --version if you’re using Certbot): 1.5.0

I saw that certbot is recommended to be installed using snap, so I went ahead and installed it. However I can’t find any details on how to install the dns plugins. Will installing the plugins using setup.py work with certbot even if it was installed using snap?

Thanks!

Where did you read that? I know the certbot team wants to make it their recommended way to install certbot, but at the moment I think it's still beta.

That's because it's still work in progress. See the github issue for more info: Make DNS plugin snaps · Issue #7672 · certbot/certbot · GitHub

Not being a Python guru, I have no idea what "installing (…) using setup.py" means.

Thats what I meant by my comment, they are moving towards snap, and I wanted to go that route as well.

Yeah I just saw that, it looks like they are actively developing,

I was referring to downloading the latest version from github, and then running setup.py under the plugin directory.

Sorry, copy/paste error in my previous post. I meant to post Make DNS plugin snaps · Issue #7672 · certbot/certbot · GitHub , but perhaps you already saw that issue.
