Certificates creation and autorenew for VMs

This is just a general question:

For kubernetes pods, there is a tool cert-manager to create and renew certificates for pods, by means of k8s certificates.

What's the most frequent tool for VMs, so both cert-manager and the tool to share a single source, say, Let's Encrypt here? Thanks,
