Well, at minimum change the above lines in ssl.conf to:

More cleanly you would remove all the lines from the top of that file up to but not including the <VirtualHost ... line and move them to the base Apache config.

Then, you could just delete this sample ssl.conf file as it would just have an unused VirtualHost. But, the above changes should at least avoid name/port overlap.

No, the server name value was supposed to be exactly www.example.com or some other unused name. It should not be your bree name

As shown, it has no ServerName and is using the default name - which has been incorrectly defined with a name that is being served by that same name.

The correction should have been made in the main config file.

If you're referring to an earlier version, this has been corrected. ServerName is defined in the main config file and not in ssl.conf

The servers' name should NOT be a name intended to be served by the virtual hosts within that server.

To be clear, are you saying that the VirtualHost name(s) should be different from the ServerName defined in httpd.conf?
