Certbot-auto fails to connect

Tried several times, it asks a couple of questions (email…) then fails with.

Failed authorization procedure. softwareandservices.us (tls-sni-01): urn:acme:error:connection :: The server could not connect to the client to verify the domain :: Failed to connect to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:443 for TLS-SNI-01 challenge

Yet firefox connects just fine.

could you provide a little more detail please.

What command did you try ?
What’s the domain name ?
Is there any firewall that prevents access to your domain on port 443 ?

That’s the entire error message. Can telnet to that host port 443 from
inside the net and outside.

Command was: ./certbot-auto

FWIW I can’t connect to port 443 on that host right now. Is there something listening on that port at the moment or is this expected?

Thanks. perhaps its some kind of routing problem. I can get to it from some
addresses, and not others.
Out of town today, will have to look into this more tomorrow.
