CertBot 2 for IONOS DNS service

Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. crt.sh | example.com), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is: mountolive.com

I ran this command: (many different commands, including )

(Attempting to install certbot)

sudo snap install snap-store

(Then trying to install it a different way)

It produced this output: (generally

dnessett@Mount:~$ sudo snap install snap-store
[sudo] password for dnessett:
error: snap "snap-store" is not available on stable but is available to install on the following
channels:

   candidate snap install --candidate snap-store
   beta snap install --beta snap-store
   edge snap install --edge snap-store

Please be mindful pre-release channels may include features not completely tested or
implemented. Get more information with 'snap info snap-store'.

dnessett@Mount:~$ snap install --candidate snap-store
error: snap "snap-store" is not available on candidate but is available to install on the following
channels:

   beta snap install --beta snap-store
   edge snap install --edge snap-store

dnessett@Mount:~$ snap install --beta snap-store
error: snap "snap-store" is not available on beta but is available to install on the following
channels:

   edge snap install --edge snap-store

Get more information with 'snap info snap-store'.

dnessett@Mount:~$ snap install --edge snap-store
error: snap "snap-store" is not available on latest/edge but other tracks exist.

Please be mindful that different tracks may include different features. Get more information
   with 'snap info snap-store'.

(Output of second attempt)

If you are seeing a compilation error please try the following steps to
  successfully install cryptography:
  1) Upgrade to the latest pip and try again. This will fix errors for most
     users. See: https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/installing/#upgrading-pip

Want Certbot 2 but couldn't figure out way to install it.

I'm puzzled and curious how you would think that's the command to install Certbot?

Also, with regard to your pip attempt: note that it's always recommended to run pip only from within a virtual environment ("venv"). But that wouldn't fix your lack of Rust issue.

It would help if you would suggest how to fix the problem.

You can find the instructions on how to install Certbot on its website: https://certbot.eff.org/

Also, my question is still valid: you might be following an incorrect guide which might need correcting.

There are also other ACME Client Implementations - Let's Encrypt some of them may possible be a better choice with IONOS DNS, you would have to investigate for your needs.

Also some other links related to ACME and IONOS DNS, that may or may not be of use

Thanks for the pointers. While searching for ways to use letsencrypt with IONOS DNS, I had only found the python plugin at: GitHub - helgeerbe/certbot-dns-ionos: A certbot plugin for enabling DNS authentication with IONOS. Your list gives me other ways to get certificates using ACME-DNS, which I will explore.

To throw my own hat into the ring, this plugin also supports IONOS and can be used with Certbot 1.x, 2.x and is available via snaps.
