Certbot 2.2.0 Release

Certbot 2.2.0 has just been released. The changelog for the release is:

2.2.0 - 2023-01-11

Changed

  • Certbot will no longer respect very long challenge polling intervals, which may be suggested by some ACME servers. Certbot will continue to wait up to 90 seconds by default, or up to a total of 30 minutes if requested by the server via Retry-After.

More details about these changes can be found on our GitHub repo.

Today we also started releasing Certbot 2.0+ to snap users on our stable (default) snap channel. Our plan is to use progressive snap releases to slowly release Certbot 2.0+ to more and more snap users over the next couple months or so until Certbot 1 is no longer available as a snap and all snap users are on Certbot 2.

We're not expecting any trouble with this transition. Certbot 2.0+ has been out for months and has already been used to successfully issue hundreds of thousands of certificates. With that said, we're doing this gradually to err on the side of safety and limit potential problems.

If you'd like to see what changed in Certbot 2.0 or how to obtain the Certbot 2.0+ snap now, see our 2.0 release post.
