ACME v2 will ask two different dns TXT for a.com and *.a.com, but only one _acme-challenge.a.com is asked
Yes, it is intentional. You are validating two separate DNS identifiers, and you can create two different TXT records with different values on the _acme-challenge.a.com DNS name.
