Wildcard/subdomain Certificate on a subdomain hosted elsewhere

I don’t have a diagram so I can’t be certain.
But it sounds like nginx comes first - not the IIS server.
If so, you can have nginx serve your cert.

The subdomain is directed to their server via cname DNS, which seems to fully skip my server and go straight to theirs.

That’s them. Mine is 107.170.96.167

I see the problem clearly now.

But that server is running IIS 10.
Which means it can do everything you need.
They just need to get it setup properly.
