Url rewrite for mqtt

The stream{block} can NOT be inside the HTTP{block}
Cut it out and paste it above HTTP{block} (which should be in the httpd.conf file)

I don’t think i even have a http block, If i move that block to the top of the file i get the same error only pointing to line 1. here is a copy of my default file.

i used the same block and put it into the nginx.conf file just above the http block, and i’m not getting any errors on lets encrypt, but the log file is saying the connection error.

Streams don’t have “server names” - rem that line out.
And try it on any other unused port (not 80 and not 443).
For now, also rem out the proxy connect timeout line.

this is where the problem lies, i need to have it come in on a port that is “open” from work. (I work in a school and the open ports are controlled by the LA so opening them is a nightmare)

I’m trying to use reverse proxy so that all connections come over the same port numbers.

I’ll make the changes and try it on an internal device though.

If i edit those two lines out, i’m now “getting invalid host in upstream.”

First get it to work.
Then change the port number.

Try removing the slash after :1883

I changed it to port 21, and removed the “/” on the host, letsencrypt is now running with no errors.

I don’t see any connection attempts in the logfile file, but still getting an error on the mqtt client.

Try switching it to some higher port like 8000
and also back to 80.

currently testing on port 8080.

same results. no connection i’m testing with two clients to be sure, one inside the firewall (on the same vlan) and one outside the network, with the port in question forwarded.

if i change it to port 80 i get an emergency error telling me it cannot bind.

This is a docker running on its on ip, so i would assume it's nginx too, but the results are:

Or IPv4 and IPv6?

I don’t have more than one ip address no, my ISP also doesnt yet provide ipv6 addresses.

So only one external IP.
Have you tried to determine which ports can reach your IP?
