@jsha Are you double sure this is fixed?
I'm hitting the same error -- perhaps for the same reason, perhaps for another one -- trying to get a certificate for mtr-atlanta.mn9.us right now.
Not sure whether to start a new thread. 
And people have seen what may be the equivalent error on acme-staging-v02 recently as well.
