Since last week i’m getting this error message on subdomains that are reaching the Certificates per Registered Domain rate limit. The concerned authorizations were created a few months ago, i would like to know if authorizations expire and in which cases?
The documentation on rate limits can be found here:
Please note that the “certificates per domain” limit is not related to authorization expiration but to certificate issuance.
I get this error message when calling self.client.net.get(auth_uri). auth_uri was retrieve by calling self.client.request_domain_challenges before. According to the code https://github.com/letsencrypt/boulder/blob/master/wfe/wfe.go#L1292, it seems that the auth_uri given can’t be found in LE database.
Yes, Authorizations expire after 30days.
Expired authorizations can’t be retrieved anymore and will 404 by design.
As @bytecamp mentioned the “Certificates Per Registered Domain” rate limit is separate from anything about expired authorizations.
