Please fill out the fields below so we can help you better. Note: you must provide your domain name to get help. Domain names for issued certificates are all made public in Certificate Transparency logs (e.g. [https://crt.sh/?q=example.com](https://crt.sh/?q=example.com)), so withholding your domain name here does not increase secrecy, but only makes it harder for us to provide help.

My domain is:
[LicenseManager.us](http://LicenseManager.us)
I ran this command:
have run no commands
It produced this output:

I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel):

Is there an option in your cPanel to obtain an SSL cert from LetsEncrypt?

Start with your "cPanel" - look for a way to get it there.

I'm not familiar with cPanel to be honest, but I doubt that "File Manager" will provide you with a root shell. To learn more about what is meant with a "root shell", see the following Wikipedia articles about the two mentioned items:

- [Shell (computing) - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_(computing)) (most of the time people mean a [command line interface](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command-line_interface) through a [terminal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_emulator));
- [Superuser - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superuser) also known as "root".

Further more, your topic doesn't actually contain a question.

I most certainly doubt it. If you check the [knowledge base of Westhost](https://www.westhost.com/knowledgebase/), you'll see a few items which makes me think Westhost wants to sell you anything, even if it isn't true.

For example, they have never heard of SNI apparently:

> If you have installed a custom SSL from a third party provider [besides WestHost] and you run into trouble with the "Activate" section of your SSL certificate, your account may not have a dedicated IP address. A dedicated IP address is REQUIRED if you are to use a private SSL certificate.
> ([Knowledgebase | westhost.com](https://www.westhost.com/knowledgebase/display/WES/Why+Does+The+SSL+For+My+Account+Not+Work))

Obviously a dedicated IP isn't necessary for a "custum SSL". 😠

It seems there **is** an option to generate a CSR, which can be signed by Let's Encrypt:

[https://www.westhost.com/knowledgebase/display/WES/How+To+Install+An+SSL+To+cPanel](https://www.westhost.com/knowledgebase/display/WES/How+To+Install+An+SSL+To+cPanel)

But that option isn't automated and would have to be repeated within 90 days of the previous certificate issuance.

OMG!
Just SAD, so SAD.
I'd get another HSP.

i think you’re right. thanks!
in their favor, though, they’re easy to reach by phone or chat, and except for the free cert support, their support is very good.

i don’t mind having to gen the cert manually. SSLForFree works quickly, and I can get a new cert in just a few minutes. cPanel allows me go gen the private and public keys i need, upload test files, retrieve and install certificates. the only thing i do not understand is how to communicate w/ LE directly. if i could get that done, i’d be on my way.

You should give serious thought to migrating to a less user-hostile host.
