Service seems down

#1

Hi. I’m trying to emit new cert, and found that something going wrong on the issuer side - connection timeouts to acme-v01.api.letsencrypt.org or hang on the “Cleaning up challenges” phase:

Obtaining a new certificate
Performing the following challenges:
tls-sni-01 challenge for client.XXX
Waiting for verification…
Cleaning up challenges
^C^C^Z
[1]+ Stopped ./certbot-auto certonly

I’m tried this few times for last 4 hours.
https://letsencrypt.status.io/ says about some maintenance jobs today, but seems “No downtime is expected” is not true, at all. Just want to tell you about service troubles, and wish a good luck with fixes.

Do you have more detailed logs somewhere in /var/log where you see the connection error to the CA server? Solely based on the output you provided, it does not look like a service outage. The logs might have more details in any case.

If things take a long time for each step, it might also be possible that your IPv6 is misconfigured. This causes behaviour where the requests hang for a long time before falling back to IPv6. See the following thread for a similar case:

Yes, of course, I have one log for yesterday issues: https://pastebin.com/X6fYUxeR
My system have no one IPv6 configured
But today this operation passed just fine, when I did nothing for that, only re-run it again… Some ghosts live there))
So, this issue can be closed.
