Moving from "Get HTTPS For Free" to certbot

Hi all,

I’m not sure if this question should go into “Help” or “Client Dev”.

I was able to use Get HTTPS For Free (GHFF) to get HTTPS working on my site. Thank you for the letsencrypt software that made it happen!

Since I have to renew my cert in a few months time, I was looking for a way to automate the process and certbot looked really appealing (and recommended).

However, when getting started with GHFF I created an account key with an email, I wasn’t able to find an easy way to move these into certbot.

Ideally I’d like to be able to “import” my account settings (email, private key) into certbot and then use that to renew the HTTPS certificate when the existing one expires.

Is this possible with certbot please? Alternatively when it’s time to renew, can I start again from scratch using certbot, without renewing the GHFF cert? I’d like to use the same email though - is it possible for the same email to be associated with two different account keys?

I’d recommend pretending you hadn’t used https://gethttpsforfree.com before and just starting from scratch (i.e. with the “Getting started” instructions). You can re-use the same email with multiple account keys, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
