I had a CSR for multiple domains that was generated by zerossl.com when it was still free.
I manually got my https every 90 days (I know automation is better...)
I have let one of the domains lapse and so I need a new CSR
I can't find any step by step instructions on how to generate a CSR.
Once I have my CSR I will be fine.

Why do you want to generate a CSR, and why do you think the question is relevant to the Let's Encrypt services?
I need a CSR so I can get started with httpsforfree.com, which works fine for me.
I'm not sure if it relevant to the Let's Encrypt services, but I'm not sure where else to turn.

httpsforfree.com doesn't work for anyone; it's just a parked domain. I assume you mean gethttosforfree.com, and that page tells you how to do it:
